Holy swarm of messages Batman! Wow, thank you again to all the people who sent me sweet words over this last day, I just got done answering all the asks that could be answered privately. Under the cut are the anons! Sorry for all the text spam guys, hopefully this is the last of it.
@wingedmonkey said: Congrats on the certification! Are you able to post pics of the birds you get to work with? Internet loves bird pics, yo.
Thanks! Unfortunately I am not, as wildlife rehab has very strict rules about when and for how long you can interact with an animal; our goal is to get them healthy and keep them wild, and that means habituating them to human contact as little as possible. We aren’t even allowed to “peek” inside a cage or habitat unless we’re working with that patient specifically. Shoving cameras or phones into their faces, even just for a brief time, only builds on their stress, especially if multiple people do it to the same animal over the course of a day. So at our facility, only directors are allowed to take photos of patients, and they mainly do so to document injury progression or other task-related duties. Sometimes though they will take glamour shots of really cool patients, like a bobcat or coyote, and post it outside the patient’s cage so people aren’t tempted to peek in all the time. So yeah, I wish I could take photos, but sadly it just isn’t in the best interest of the animal!
Wow okay, I do not know who started my crazy influx of watchers and reblogs, but damn. Thank.
Seriously thank, because until now I didn’t realize how dead my Tumblr had become, ahaa. I started volunteering at a wildlife rehab center mid-august last year and while it is super rewarding (just got my raptor certification, woo) it has cut in to my freetime somewhat, as has a, uh, certain MMO, and roleplays centering around said MMO. But just wanted to say that I will have stuff going up here again soon so this place isn’t a complete wasteland. See you all then! <3
thrillbobaggins asked: This isn't really an ask... I just thought you should know I think the drawings you've done, or 'screebles', are pretty freakin' good!
Aww, hey, thank you hon! That’s very kind of you to say :D
lizzigator asked: The tags from that Skyrim confessions post had you in it, so I assume you're the one who submitted it. YOU HAVE MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY ON HOW THE ELVES LOOK LET ME LOVE YOU.
Hahah indeed I was! Thank you, gosh, it’s so cool to see that so many people feel the same way.
jesus-lizard-journal asked: Do you happen to have a deviantart account where I could favorite that pic with the four Skyrim bandits squabbling? I love it a lot! =D
Sorry for the semi-belated answer, but I wanted to wait until I could answer you with a yes! Got a couple requests to put it on DA, so there we go. And thank you! <3
Doroga, out for a cruise! Man I have come to love this little guy so damn much. I confess I let him out more than my other scaly bebes as he’s such a pathetic slitherer he can’t really go far, nor does he have legs for random kamikaze leaps into the abyss (ahem, Miss Beardie). I plop him on my desk or on my bed and he pretty much pokes around there until I pluck him up again. Keeps me company, and I don’t have to worry about him wandering off onto the floor.
aaaa i kinda want a legless lizard… what are they like? what kind of personalities do they have?
THEY ARE THE MOST AMAZING THINGS oh my gosh I really can’t say enough about scheltys! Other legless lizards I have no idea, but the scheltopusik has completely stolen my heart. Mine is a wily, cheeky little fart that still makes a “fft fft ffft” noise every time someone walks in the room or reaches into his cage. He doesn’t ever try to bite, and in fact is so excited to come out he’ll shoot halfway up your arm if you let him, but I always get puffed at when I first go in to say hello. He’s extremely responsive to his surroundings to the point that a new neighbor upset him for a week. I could talk about these guys forever but yeah! If you do decide to get one I promise boatloads of fun once it tames down.
